My group is doing the Chicago lakefront bike path. Since the path is about 20 miles long there is no specific neighborhood I could explore so I decided to compare the entries on Chicago.

Wikipedia: While there is not a specific author there are many people who have edited the page when you look in the history. It is shocking to see the amount of people that have edited this page and it looks like someone has something to change to it every day. You can leave a message to the person that has edited this and see exactly what they have edited on this page.
Britannica: This website has the authors cited at the end of the article. I didn’t like how they hid the authors all the way at the end of the article because it’s harder to find, since you have to go from page to page unlike in Wikipedia its all on one page. The authors were Perry R. Duis and Cathlyn Schallhorn. There is no contact on either of the author just a sentence with some work they have done. The Wikipedia authors could be contacted more easily.
Recency
Wikipedia: This page was last edited today December 1, 2007 and it was really easy to find right in the history.
Britannica: There was no specific date on when the authors wrote this entry or when it was edited.
References
Wikipedia: There were 81 references on this page and 5 further readings. About half of them were clickable and they would take you to the site of an article.
Britannica: There were no references to this page, but there were additional readings listed. There were many additional reading but none of them were clickable. They were cited so they would be easily found in a library.
Links
Wikipedia: There are some external links that all work and they have different info for the city like the official Chicago page or a map of Chicago. They would be helpful for a traveler.
Britannica: There is a guide of website, there were 191 entries. I clicked on some of them and they worked. Some of them could be references because they are news articles and some are other websites about Chicago.
Consistency
A lot of the information was the same but Wikipedia seemed to have some additional information that Britannica did not, but they covered a lot of the same content.
Bias/Controversy
Wikipedia: There are a lot of entries from people stating things that are wrong with the page.
Britannica: This page has only an email for suggestions.
Overall quality/ impressions
I liked the Wikipedia page more. I like the way that it is set up and I could find everything on one page and don’t have to go through many pages. I like how they have a ton of other websites and a lot more information. I would use this page rather that Britannica if I was doing research on Chicago because of the page set up, even if I knew that it would not be as credible it seems more appealing.

the eagles shadow
America is viewed as a nation where your dreams come true and where you can have freedom and wealth. Americans are viewed in many ways. Americans are good but its government is not. American people are viewed as the rich people who are impatian, don't have enought time for themselves or for their family. Americans are self centered wanting more for themselves, they are lonlier than other people in the world and more stressed. They do not know much about what their government is doing overseas and how the government runs at all. They don't know how their government does things over seas and they don't know anyhing about what kidn of problems other countries face. One of our problems is that we don't have a good media that would tell us about international news because it is controled by those who own the media, and even if we would we wouldn't have time to be concerened about it. The American government is so much different from its people. The other countries don't hate american people but its governmetn. The american governmet does what they want, they try to destroy other nation and disobey international laws. Your nation is either with the government of not with it. The governtent does not do good to other nations and the american people are not aware of it. That is why the governmetn should not be surprised by 9/11 from the bad that it does.

My group and I explored the core of the city and the Four Seasons
that is located nest to the Chase building. We sat there for a little while to observe the people around us. There were people from all kinds of ethnic groups. Around the Four seasons there were people that were just sitting there reading books or just looking at the mosaic. Some were walking by it very fast and many people were sitting by the fountain just below us. The whole day we saw many people being very fast paced trying to get from one place to another. Those that were walking slow were usually walking with someone.
I saw some new art around chicago that I have not seen before, like the globes on the street and some sculptures that I haven't walked by before. I learned to not ask anyone questions that are walking, they will just blow you of. If you want to ask someone ask the people that are standing around, those that are in no rush. Most of the people that we saw around were business people, but were people just enjoying the city. We saw some tourists and people around with shoping bags.

Academic Dishonesty
I consider cheating as an act of taking someone else’s work and using it as your own. Whether you are copying homework, looking at your neighbors test or copying someone’s work word for work without citing it is still cheating. Does anyone feel bad about cheating when the grade they get afterward is good? You may get a good grade, but you certainly have not deserved it. I know that some teachers in high school would see you copying homework from others right in class and not say one word about it, this is a problem because you would not feel discouraged to cheat but want to do it more. I think that these teachers are thinking that they are discouraging you and that you will feel bad about that grade, but the student has no guilt wanting to cheat more.
There are teachers that look out for cheaters. I read about teachers using software to check if anything in the paper is plagiarized, but this is time consuming and all teachers don’t have time to do this. Some teachers say that they see a change in the way the student writes, but does that necessarily have to do anything with that, what if they just tried harder because they wanted a better grade. But what about when they buy their papers online? If I were the teacher I would fail that student for the semester. They obviously don’t want to do anything so it seems like they don’t even care about their grade, so I don’t need them in my class.
Many students today don’t have enough time to do all the homework that we are assigned. We have a lot of other things going on from work, friends, family, boyfriend/girlfriend to other problems at home. Where are we to fit homework in? students often just start copying from others, as it will get done faster. It may be as simple as copying an easy homework sheet that you forgot or didn’t have time to finish, or you know the material and the teacher is wasting your time. We don’t want to do things over and over again; we want to learn new things and not something to just pass our time by. Sometimes it’s just cheating on a test that you didn’t study for and it is easy to just look at the abcd answers from the person next to you. One of the big things in our high school was to store things into a calculator.
Many students have also done things as switch papers for different classes. I would consider this cheating too because you already have all the homework done for you, you may say it is just to study but you know you will copy it, and you learn absolutely nothing from it. The only thing that I would find ok is for the teacher to give you old tests to study from. They are well aware of what the student is to know. In my high school the PE final was always the same for all for years. By your sophomore year you would know answers to every question. I believe that it is the students’ responsibility to know the consequences about cheating; the school should not have them sign a piece of paper but tell them about cheating and consequences. It’s their responsibility to know about cheating and they should be honest.
To conclude I think cheating is an act of taking someone’s work and making it your own. There are no excuses that the student should make about cheating. Cheating is cheating. You cheat and you are responsible for the consequences, and how you are going to feel about yourself. Cheating may ruin your reputation and admittance to another school.
